European diplomacy and attempts at a cease of Polish-Lithuanian dispute

This work is focusing on attempts of the European diplomacy to cease Polish - Lithuanian dispute. By using the scholar literature, it describes realities of the first years after first world war and the renewal of independency of both states. Following is the Vilnius question which is the most important theme of the work. By describing the context and situation in the region, it analysis possible reasons of why the attempts failed. Work also contains the final state of the dispute and how it affected the future of Polish - Lithuanian relations.
The legacy of Versailles and the reflection of the peace conference in the 20th century

The presented diploma thesis deals with the issue of the legacy and reflection of the peace conference in the 20th century, through the theories of realism and idealism. The theoretical part presents the key theories of realism and idealism, from the perspective of several authors, as well as the first great debate in the sector of international relations. The distribution of forces at the peace conference in Paris is described in more detail, all the treaties forming the Versailles peace system are presented, and attention was also paid to the process of establishing the League of Nations. The main part of the work contains an analysis of the situation during the interwar period, with an emphasis on the sustainability of the idealistic peace concept, which contrasted with the realistic activities of individual states. Based on this, the main goal of the work is to answer the questions what caused the failure of the system of collective security, the demise of the League of Nations, as well as the possible transcendence of peace treaties to the present. Profile, work and theory of Jesús Baigorri Jalón

The central focus of this Master's thesis was to provide a concise overview of the academic work of the contemporary Spanish interpreter and interpreting historian, Jesús Baigorri Jalón. We carried out an in-depth analysis of his work, accompanied by the critical reception of his two key publications. In the introductory part of our thesis, we focused on the author's methodology and placement in Spanish and Czech academic contexts. Then, we elaborated a comprehensive, chronological overview of the author's two main monographs and outlined the main topics discussed in Baigorri's studies. We also focused on the author's contribution to the translation and interpreting studies, his research methodology and its potential to serve as an inspiration to Czech researchers.
The history and conception of collective security under the League of Nations

Master thesis is dealing with the topic of Collective security during the time following World war the first, during the time of League of Nations duration. Except the introduction and conclusion Thesis is divided into five sections. First section is dealing with the issue of Collective security. In order to conduct deeper analysis, term is divided into two parts - Security and Collectiveness. Concept of Security is analysed further when four different aspects are identified. Collectiveness is also examined in order to define its meaning. First part also includes distinction between Collective security and Collective self-defence. Despite their different meanings these two terms are often interchanged. Second part deals with the events preceding the creation of League of Nations. Especially the Paris peace conference. Since it laid down the foundations for the new International organization and its prime document, the Covenant. Second part is also dealing with the demands of the victorious powers on a concept of Collective security. Since the victors did not share single opinion on how to organise new international organisation, the Covenant of League of Nations and its legal mechanisms are result of a diplomatic compromise. Åland Islands - autonomy and the road to it Tomáš Juhás 2013 Abstract The thesis focuses on the so-called Åland Question, the Finnish-Swedish conflict over Åland islands in the period of the post-first-world-war years, which was ultimately solved through the League of Nations in the way that the Islands were confirmed to belong to Finland, under the condition of being granted autonomy and of their neutral status being confirmed. The goal of the thesis is to conclude why the conflict was solved precisely in the way it was, this being based on the analysis of motivations of the main states party to the conflict. The thesis regards this conflict as a dual one. The first part of the conflict is military- strategic and concerns the neutrality of the Islands. From a Baltic point of view, the Åland islands are a very strategically important area in case of a war. For this reason the Islands were neutralized as of 1856 and all states party to the conflict wanted them to stay so. The second part of the conflict is an ethnic one and concerns the question to which state the Islands should belong. The inhabitants of the Ålands speak Swedish and they made themselves heard that they wanted their land to belong to Sweden. However, Finland was not willing to let the Islands go. Child marriage in the context of international rights of the child

The bachelor's thesis deals with the child marriages that occur mainly in the developing countries and their various causes and consequences. During such ceremonies is one or both of the betrothed is less than 18 years old. This work is divided into three chapters and its aim is to answer the question of whether or not children's weddings ultimately violate international standards to protect the rights of the child or not. The theoretical part provides the most important international declarations and conventions containing the rights of the child, published in the 20th century. The second chapter is devoted directly to discussing marriages of children; contained therein is their definition, and then further clarification of where they occur and what leads parents or guardians of children to marry them. The third chapter deals with the analysis of violations of international standards to protect the rights of the child, either directly or in connection with the impacts of weddings of teenagers on their lives.
International position of Czechoslovakia in the period of so called 1st republic

The thesis is concerned with the international position of Czechoslovakia between the years 1918 and 1938. Its aim is to explore possibilities and chances of a small state to survive and to prosper. The thesis analyses Czechoslovak journey to independence during the World War I, its activities at the Parisian Peace Conference, its performance in the League of Nations, development of mutual relations with powers and succesion states of former Austria-Hungaria and foundation of Petite entente. The thesis also pays attention to events that preceded signing of the Munich Agreement in September 1938 and tries to answer the question if it had been possible to prevent it and if there were any other ways how to react.
